In order to understand the story behind Megas XLR, one must hear about the first episode. In the first episode of Megas XLR it begins off in the distant future of 3037. An alien race know as the Glorft had invaded Earth a few years before this time and is trying to finish off the rest of the Human resistance. The resistance knows that its attempts to defeat them during this time period is next to impossible to achieve, so they stole a Glorft prototype(A.K.A. Megas) and modified it from its usual design. Using the time device installed on Megas, the resistance chooses a red-headed women named Kiva Andrew, another main character, to go back in time with Megas to the Battle of the Last Stand in 3035, which was the last major offensive of humanity. We lost that battle, but the resistance believes that Megas can tip the scales in our favor and deliver a decisive defeat to the Glorft. Unfortunately, the Glorft attack the resistance base with a massive force that the resistance cannot hold back, at least for long. The attack is made even worse because Gorrath, the leader of the Glorft, is in charge of the attack. Humanity is forced to launch Megas to prevent it from being destroyed. Kiva brings in her robot up to Megas to board it, which by then the time machine is activated, but then Gorrath, preffering to have Megas destroyed then in the hands of an "earther," opens fire on Megas, destroying the head of Megas and preventing the transfer. Megas is then launch into the time vortex created by the time machine, followed by Kiva, two human robots, and the capital ship of the Glorft. Megas, having not been directed to any specific time when it went into the vortex, ends up in 1936 in a New Jersey junkyard. Then, 68 years later in 2004, it is found by Coop Cooplwski, another main character, who buys it for two dollars, which he nevers pays for. He gives it a sleek new paint job and replaces the missing head with a car and all the controls with video game, car, and stereo parts. Coop then shows Jamie, his best friend, Megas in his garage, which at first is just the car head showing, and then presses a button that causes Megas to shoot up from the ground, destroying the garage. Jamie, not being impressed by it when it was just a car, was amazed at the towering robot, if only for a moment. Once his amazement passes, he suggests that Coop should take it for a spin, which they do, destroying several houses and a satalite in the process. Kiva and the Glorft, trying to find Megas, end up showing up during Coop's test drive of Megas, Kiva showing up first. In an attempt to take back Megas, Kiva finds that she is now incapable of driving Megas. after this new revalation, the Glorft show up and attack Megas. Coop takes on the the Glorft, completely destroying the weaker mechs with great ease, when Gorrath becomes so impatient, he finally has a large portion remaining robots combine into a monstorous robot that's two is bigger then Megas! Coop tries to take on the robot, punching and kicking it, but to no avail. Just when it seems to be the end of Megas and the three in it, the satalite that Coop hit earlier falls down and hits the robot in the head, rendering it useless. The Glorft retreat to space to realize that they can't go back to the future for reinforcements and that they are all on their own. Kiva, finding herself stuck in this time for the time being(no pun intended), decides to let Coop pilot Megas (which he had named XLR) and stays with them for many wild adventures. |

Allow me to introduce Coop. He is an overweight, videogame loving, food engorging, car enthusiastic New Jersey guy who is one of the main characters in Megas XLR(Extra Large Robot). Somehow from playing so many games, Coop is somehow able to pilot Megas excellently. Not being very bright, he usually doesn't understand how serious the situation he is in. Most of his heroics are complete accidents and usually ends up destroying more than he protects. Even so, he has a strong sense of justice and compassion. Though he isn't very smart, he is still possesses exceptional skills in mechanics, artistry, and electronics, frequently "upgrading" Megas, though the new upgrades usually malfunction. Coop is always hungry, usually eating more than a person could eat in one day with just one meal. Despite being very fat, he isn't ashamed of it but instead he imbraces it, preffering to be call "fat" instead of "chubby". In an alternate timeline, Coop destroyed the Glorft, but his lust for challenge and battle has gradually turned him into an evil warlord, which may provide insight into his character and motivations. This Coop got into shape and abandoned Megas for a more war-oriented robot. However, this Coop may be fundamentally different from the Coop from the known timeline. |
